Kabaddi, also known as the "Game of the Masses," is a sport that is firmly ingrained in Indian culture. This age-old sport has changed throughout the years, capturing the attention of both participants and spectators with its distinctive fusion of physical prowess, strategy, and tradition. A Journey Through History: Kabaddi's origins may be traced to ancient India, with records of the game stretching back as far as 4,000 years. It was initially used as a game to show off one's power, quickness, and agility. Kabaddi throughout time developed into an essential component of Indian festivals and celebrations, providing a spectacle that united communities.

The Kabaddi Rules: Kabaddi is an intriguing sport with straightforward but appealing rules. Two teams, each with seven players, normally compete in this game. A quick description of how Kabaddi is played is given below:

1. Raid: A player from one team, known as the "raider," enters the opponent's half of the court to tag as many opposing players as possible, all while chanting the word "Kabaddi" repeatedly without taking a breath. This forms the basis of the raid.

2. Tagging: Before inhaling, the raider must tag an opponent and return to their own side. The opponent who is successfully tagged is then deemed "out."

3. Defending: The defending team's objective is to stop the raider from tagging any of their players. They can do this by joining hands in a chain and making an effort to halt the raider's advance.

4. Raids: When a raider successfully tags an opponent and goes back to their side, they gain points. In contrast, if the defending team stops the raider from coming back, they score a point.

5. Player continuation: Play continues with alternating raids until all members of one team are ruled "out," at which point the opposing team scores extra points.

The Uniqueness of Kabaddi: The combination of physical athleticism and cerebral sharpness that Kabaddi demands sets it apart from other sports. It's a strategy game in which attackers must outsmart defenders and defenders must work together to stop attackers. Kabaddi is an exciting and frantic sport because it requires split-second decisions and actions.

Popularity and Modernization: Although Kabaddi has a long history, it has also changed to fit the times. Modern Kabaddi leagues have become extremely famous and draw elite players from all over the world, such the Pro Kabaddi League in India. These leagues have not only helped the sport gain international prominence, but they have also added fun and professionalism.

Kabaddi Beyond India: Kabaddi is not limited to India alone; it has gained followers in countries like Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and even as far as Japan and Canada. International Kabaddi competitions have become a platform for cultural exchange and sportsmanship, furthering the sport's reach and appeal.

MY JOURNEY Towards this sport was Awesome as I have played State Level in Bokaro and was selected for National in Visakhapatnam unfortunately I couldn't play further but as now  I am in college, I have started again and it will be for ever ......

I will be sharing this experience in another blog but as of  now I have learnt a lot from kabaddi that how and when to attack or defend not only in game but in real life also and a lot more and I am grateful for this a journey towards enthusiasm.
